
Ann, founder and owner of Speech and Language Services of South Texas, is a licensed and certified speech pathologist. Nationally certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association since 1980, Ann has served as a clinician, consultant, instructor and administrator in a variety of healthcare settings, public schools and universities. She has worked with infants, children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders over her many years as a clinician.
Ann’s experience is vast and includes the evaluation and treatment of speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders in individuals with mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, congenital anomalies, multiple handicaps, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, ALS and Multiple Sclerosis. She has previously been recognized as clinician of the year and a member of the rehab team of the year during her work with elderly patients in Alice, Texas.
Ann is a bilingual (English-Spanish) therapist who received training in the evaluation and treatment of bilingual individuals with communication disorders during her work as clinical supervisor in the Bilingual Speech Pathology Program at the University of Texas in Austin in the mid 1980’s. Prior to her work at UT, Ann served as the communication disorder undergraduate program director and speech therapy clinic director at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas. Ann loves to share her knowledge with others and frequently provides graduate clinical practicum opportunities and clinical internships at SLS of STX. She occasionally serves as a local college instructor and provides in-service workshops to parents, teachers and others. She is dedicated to continuing to increase her knowledge in the field of speech pathology attending several continuing education seminars a year. She was awarded the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association continuing education award in 2006.
Service to her country and the local community has been an important aspect of Ann’s life experience. After 10 years of service as a naval reservist, Ann retired at the rank of Lieutenant. She served as an intelligence officer and criminal investigator. Ann has served on several home health agency boards and served as an officer of the Nueces Child Welfare Board and Foundation. She was instrumental in raising funds for the foundation through spearheading their bachelor/bachelorette auction and 5k run, the CAPA 5k, for several years. Funds obtained from these efforts were used for child abuse prevention and awareness.
Although she is quite busy in career and community matters, Ann still has time to enjoy her favorite past times which include travel, golf and reading.

Donia has over 10 years of experience helping children reach their communication objectives. Prior to joining SLS of South Texas, Donia worked in various school districts with children between the ages of 3 through 18 years.
She is trained in the Picture Exchange Communication System and is member of the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Donia prefers a traditional approach to speech and language therapy and also believes in a collaborative effort in helping children reach their maximum potential.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and baking.
